National Ski Patrol
Founded in 1938 by Charles M. (Minnie) Dole, the National Ski Patrol is federally
chartered by the United States Congress. This is an endorsement that only a few
other American institutions, like the Red Cross, the YMCA, and the Boy Scouts,
have earned. It is composed of 28,500 members including volunteer, paid, alpine,
snowboard and nordic patrollers. The NSP spans 600 patrols in the United States
and certain areas of Europe.
